Virginia M. Young, 90, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at Thalman Square, Cedar Falls, Iowa, on Sunday, January 18, 2015.

She was born August 2, 1924 in North Mankato, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry and Johanna Schaack Schulte. She married John R. “Jack” Young on July 20, 1946 in Waterloo. He preceded her in death on January 3, 2009.

Virginia worked at Rath Packing Company, the National Dairy Cattle Congress and Peoples Mutual Savings & Loan.

She is survived by two sons, Mark (Patti) Young of Waterloo and Kenneth (Joyce) Young of Sulphur Springs, Ark.; two daughters, Constance Hanna of Coon Rapids, Minn. and LuAnn Flynn of Glendale, AZ; nine grandchildren, Laura (Brian) Klepinger, Jennifer (Scott) Nordquist, Tyler Young, Matthew (Jenni) Young, Andrew (Megan) Young, Kevin Flynn, Bryan Flynn, Aubrey (Ralph) Wood and Cameron Young; eight great-grandchildern, Nicholas Klepinger, Elly Klepinger, Lydia Nordquist, Rachel Nordquist, Sawyer Young, Griffyn Young, Beckett Young and Chase Young.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Evelyn Schnieders and a brother, Jerome Schulte in infancy.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 22 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a rosary at 4pm and a vigil at 7pm. Visitation also for an hour preceding services at the church on Thursday.

Memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament School, the Alzheimer’s Association or Cedar Valley Hospice.
