Life Legacy

Velma Mae Koch, 92, of Waterloo, died Monday April 13, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

She was born July 23, 1922, in Sac City, the daughter of Clarence and Maggie Miller Lewis. She married Andrew Koch on April 22, 1950, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Waterloo and he died September 23, 2001.

Velma graduated from Sac City High School in 1941 and began employment at Iowa Public Service Company as head cashier until 1951. She was then employed at J.C. Penney for 18 years, retiring in 1986.

Survivors include: three sons, Dan (Beth) of Waterloo, Greg (Ginny) of Ames, and Jim (Holly) of Waterloo; a daughter, Angela (Rick) Breuer of Waterloo; a son-in-law, Tim Kramer of Waterloo; eight grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren;

Preceded in death by: her parents; a daughter, Diane Kramer; a brother, Fay Lewis; two sisters, Dorothy Davis and Bessie McDonald.

Services: 10:30 A.M. Friday, April 17, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Raymond with burial in the church cemetery. Public visitation from 4-8 P.M. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street where there will be a 4 P.M. rosary. There will not be visitation at the church on Friday.

Memorials: may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
