Biography--

Rex Lee Brice, 78, of Gilbertville, Iowa, died Monday, April 27, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born January 26, 1937, in Waterloo, the son of Russell and Dorothy Blitsch Brice. He married Mary Pint on May 7, 1960, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gilbertville.

Rex served in the United States Marine Corps and was employed as a journeyman mailer at the Waterloo Courier for 46 years, retiring in 2002.

Survivors include his wife, Mary of Gilbertville; three sons: Keith (Yvette “Rocky”) Brice, Jeff Brice all of Waterloo, and Mike Brice of Marion; two daughters, Angie (Todd) McGrath of Waterloo and Kristen (Tim) Borseth of Decorah; fourteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a brother, Rick (Kathy) Dunlevy of Waterloo; a sister, Colleen Johnson of Cedar Falls; two step-sisters, Lois (Vernon) Conradi of Reinbeck and Sue (Wes) Crosby of Spokane, Wash.

Preceded in death by: his parents and a brother, Verne Miller.

Services were Thursday, April 30, 2015, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, both in Gilbertville. Full military rites will be conducted at the grave by the American Legion Nugent Demuth Post 714 along with the Marine Honor Guard. Public visitation from 4-8 P.M. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street where there will be a 6 P.M. vigil service. Visitation also one hour prior to services at the church.

Rex was a lifelong bowler beginning in 1958. He shot his first 700 in 1969 and was the first of several perfect games. Those who bowled with and against Rex identify him with good sportsmanship. He was inducted into the Waterloo Bowling Association Hall of Fame on May 18, 1995.
