Lynn D. Geiger

September 8, 1952 - June 8, 2015

Lynn D. Geiger, 62, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, June 8, from metastatic kidney cancer at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo.

He was born September 8, 1952, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Calvin and Patricia Sutherland Geiger. He married Carol Burns on August 25, 1972, in Cedar Falls.

Lynn was employed at John Deere for 37 years, retiring in 2009 as operations manager of Service Parts. Following retirement, he served as project manager for the John Deere Tractor and Engine Museum. He was a veteran of the US Army National Guard.

Survivors include: his wife; three daughters, Shannon (Bill) Chase of Norwalk, Tiffany (Erik) Guetzlaff and Lindsay Elenz, both of Cedar Falls; seven grandchildren, Emma and Will Chase, Kambry and Karson Guetzlaff and Mikaela, Brady and Kendyl Elenz; his father of Cedar Falls; two brothers, Steve (Pat Enos) Geiger of East Lansing, Michigan, and Jon (Laurie) Geiger of Carbondale, Illinois; a sister, Ann Geiger of Clinton; his mother and father-in-law, Eileen and Cecil Burns of Cedar Falls; brothers and sisters-in law, Steve (Ann) Burns, Dave (Barb) Burns, Linda (Ross) Chapin and Jim (Barb) Burns; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: his mother.

A memorial service will be Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Visitation will be Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, Waterloo.

Memorials may be directed to the Kidney Cancer Association or Cedar Valley Hospice.

Lynn volunteered in many community organizations, including Cedar Valley Hospice, Covenant Patient Advisory Council, UNI Athletic Club and as the Exalted Ruler at the Waterloo Elks Club. He held his family close to his heart and touched the lives of many.
