Biography--

Bill Kalianov, 91 of Waterloo, died Sunday, June 14 at Bright Kavanagh House, Des Moines.

He was born January 10, 1924 in Medina, N.D., son of John and Marian Evanoff Kalianov. He married Patricia Martin June 4, 1955 in Waterloo. She died October 24, 2009.

Bill received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Iowa Teacher's College (UNI) and a Iowa Secondary Teaching Certificate. He was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for 32 years, retiring in 1984. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran serving in the 84th infantry during Battle of the Bulge.

Survivors include three sons, Daniel P. (Teresa) of Waterloo, Thomas D. of Belton, Mo. and William (Karen) of West Des Moines; a daughter, Kathryn (Neil) Driscoll of Forest Park, Ill. and three grandchildren, Jalissa and Jacob Kalianov of Belton, Mo. and Anya Kalianov of West Des Moines.

Preceded in death by five brothers, Nick, Michael, Peter, Thomas and John Jr. and two sisters, Annie Kalianov and Doris Makedonsky.

Services will be held on Friday, June 19, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted by Waterloo Amvets Post 19, Evansdale Amvets Post 31 and the Iowa Army Honor Guard. Public visitation will be from 4-8 pm Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway where there will be a 4 pm rosary and a 7 pm vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Bright-Kavanagh House or Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian Burial:
Friday June 19, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Visitation:
Thursday June 18, 2015, at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service, West Ridgeway Chapel.

Rosary:
Thursday June 18, 2015, 4:00 p.m. at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service, West Ridgeway Chapel.

Vigil Service:
Thursday June 18, 2015, 7:00 p.m. at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service, West Ridgeway
Chapel.
