Dennis K. “Denny” Manahl, Sr., 71 of Cedar Falls, died Friday, July 24, at his home.
He was born September 23, 1943 in Dubuque, son of Kenneth and Mildred “Millie” Weber Manahl.
At the age of two, Denny lost his father and was raised by his mother and second father, Thomas O’Toole.He married Peggy Grevas Nov. 23, 1970 in Dubuque and served in the U.S. Airforce.
Denny worked at many auto dealers in the Cedar Valley, most recently he was employed with Dan Deery Motors, Waterloo, delivering auto parts.
Survivors include: his wife; three sons, Dennis “D.J.” (Heidi) Manahl, Jr. of Dunkerton, Leo of Germany and Michael of Ames; a daughter, Barb (Mike) Gustafson of Waterloo; five grandchildren, Adam, Bradley, Isabel, Christian, and Noah; his mother of Dubuque; two brothers, Kenneth “Poochie” (Kathy) of Arizona and T.J. of Bellevue; three sisters, Penny (Jim) Ehlinger of Dubuque, Michelle (Tom) Vogel of Arizona and Kelli (Don Brancato) O’Toole of Seattle, Wash.; and his loving canine companion, Mo.
Preceded in death by: both his fathers.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 28 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery where Full Military Rites will be conducted by the Waterloo and Evansdale Amvets, Post 19 & 31. Public visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway where there will be a 4 p. m. rosary. Visitation will continue for one hour before services at the church.
Memorials: directed to the family.
Denny was a great father, grandfather and loving husband. He never pulled any punches!
