Biography--

Richard E. “Dick” Sires, 67, of Elk Run Heights, died at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, on Thursday, December 25, 2014.

Richard was born on February 23, 1947 in Waterloo, the son of Milton "Mike" and Jean Cotton Sires.

He graduated from East High in 1966 and then served in the United States Army.

Richard worked for UPS driver for 13 years and later owned and operated R. E. Sires Trucking Company.

He loved golf, to play and especially watch it on TV. He delighted in watching the hummingbirds that would come to the feeders outside his window. Richard also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He liked spending time at the Isle Casino and betting in football pools.

Survived by: Wife, Mary Sires of Elk Run Heights; two sons, Shane and Chad (Christi) Sires both of Evansdale; two daughters, Wendi Wright Sires of Elk Run Heights and Dianna (Marty) Buckstein of Denver, Colorado; a brother, Ron (Janet) Sires of Waterloo; nine grandchildren, Josh, Joey, Jonny, Emily, Nicklaus, Seth, Blake, Charissa, and Taylor; a great granddaughter, Aubriana; and his beloved dog, a Boxer named Dozer.

Preceded in death by: his parents; and a son, Donnie Pherigo.

A graveside service will be held at Garden View Chapel on Tuesday, December 30, 2014.
