Biography

Donna Sheldon, 75, of Crystal Lake, Illinois, and formerly of Waterloo, Iowa, died at the Sunrise Senior Living Center, Crystal Lake, Monday, December 29, 2014.

Donna was born July 10, 1939, in Charles City, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Marcella "Sally" Wagner Cerwinske. Grew up in Waterloo and graduated from West High School in 1957. Donna married Bob A. Sheldon February 4, 1961 in Waterloo he died June 30, 2008.

Donna was a Sustaining Member of Junior League of Waterloo, founding member and past board member of Cedar Valley Hospice, past chair of volunteers with Hawkeye Valley Chapter of Red Cross, member of Reach for Recovery, member of the board of Breast Cancer Support, and member of Chapter Z of PEO. Dona enjoyed golf, tennis, racquetball, bridge, spending time at the lake, being with friends, poker nights, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, her dogs - Charlie and Buckwheat! Donna had a true love of life. Being with Bob, her friends, kids and grandkids were what made her happiest. She had a smile that was contagious all the way to the end.

In 1980 she graduated with a BSW from UNI and worked for 13 years as a Medical Social Worker at Covenant Medical Center, retiring in 1980.

She is survived by her daughter Tamara (Eric) Marx of Algonquin, IL; son Brian (Victoria) Sheldon of Overland Park, KS; six grandchildren: Hailey and Logan Marx and Courtney, Jake, Audrey, and Beau Sheldon; her mother Marcella "Sally" Smith of Cedar Falls; and sister Faith Sonksen of Waterloo. She was preceded in death by her father, husband Bob, brother‑in‑law Ray Sonksen, paternal grand parents Harry and Goldie Cerwinske, maternal grandparents Carl and Frieda Wagner.

Tuesday, January 6, 2014 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1301 Kimball Ave., Waterloo

Visitation:
Monday, January 5th at Locke Funeral Home. In honor of Donna please wear red to her visitation.
