Vern B. Loveland, 88, of Marshalltown, formerly of Janesville, Iowa, died at the Iowa Veterans Home on Monday, September 28, 2015.

He was born November 27, 1926 in Black Hawk County, Iowa, the son of Lester and Rosabelle Sickles Loveland. He graduated from Janesville High School.

Vern married Phyllis Decker and they were later divorced. He later married Martha "Marty" Butz and she died in 2007. He worked for Schield Bantam in Waverly, retiring in 1991 and also ran the family farm from 1961-1991 when he retired from Bantam (now Terex). Vern served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He is survived by his daughter Colleen (Dave) Jacob of Waterloo; daughter Mary Loveland of Yuma, Arizona; daughter Donna (Bill) Simonis of Des Moines; daughter Jennifer (Bob) Jans of Clarksville, Iowa; daughter Shelley (Kevin) Casey of Omaha; daughter Brenda (Steve) Stokes of Janesville; son Jim Loveland of Des Moines; son Wayne (Dee) Loveland of Palo, Iowa; daughter-in-law Karen Loveland; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Margaret Sinclair and Kay (Al) Messerschmidt.

Vern is preceded in death by his son Robert Harry Loveland and brothers: Keith Loveland and Glenn Loveland.

Memorial Services: Friday, October 2, 2015 at Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo.

Cemetery:
Burial will be at a later date.
