Biography--

Dennis Strayer, 77, of Hudson, died at home, on Saturday, October 3, 2015.

Dennis was born on May 24, 1938 in Waterloo, the son of R. Gorden and Ruth Niehaus Strayer.

He graduated from Hudson High School in 1956, and went on to receive a bachelor of science degree in Agronomy from Iowa State University in 1959.

Dennis married C. Ann Hammond on June 9, 1962 at First Baptist Church in Ames. She died November 25, 2009.

He worked in management for Pioneer Hybrids in Toledo and Durrant. He also had owned and operated Strayer Seed Farms and worked as a consultant.

Dennis was member of Hudson United Methodist Church, Hudson Lions Club, active in the Hudson Community and various other professional associations.

Survived by a son, Bert (Teresa) Strayer of Hudson; a daughter, Sara (Barron) Smith of Fort Worth, Texas; two grandchildren, Amanda & Samuel Strayer; a brother, Greg Strayer of Hudson; and a sister, Becky (Dave) Primus of Mount Auburn.

Preceded in death by a son, Johnathon and a daughter, Lisa.
