Biography--

Ronald N. 'Ron' MacDonald, 69, of Waterloo, died at Covenant Medical Center on Saturday, April 11, 2015.

He was born on April 21, 1945 in Phoenix, AZ, the son of Murdoch and Mattie Mae (Watson Robison) MacDonald. He married Linda Welter, they later divorced. He and his special friend and companion, Randi Cockerham, have been together for over 15 years.

Ron graduated from high school in Buchanan, Michigan. After high school, he served in the U.S. Navy. He earned his English degree from Mankato State in Minnesota. He was on the wrestling team in high school, college and in the Navy. Ron worked as a teacher and taught English and Spanish in Puebla, Mexico and in several towns in Minnesota.

Survived by: his special friend, Randi Cockerham of Waterloo; two brothers, Tom (Ceci) MacDonald of San Diego, California, and Andrew (Heike) MacDonald of Germany; two sisters, Teera Merrell of San Diego, California and Paula (Greg) Hughes of Lincoln, California; and his father, Murdoch MacDonald of Phoenix, Arizona.

Preceded by: a brother, Jerry Robison and his mother.
