Biography--

Belva M. White, 93, of Friendship Village, Waterloo died at the Village on Wednesday, April 15, 2015.

She was born February 12, 1922 in Oelwein, the daughter of George and Delia (Brown) Michael. She graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1939.

Belva married Harvey H. White on June 9, 1940 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She loved playing her organ and spent every evening doing her crossword puzzles. She enjoyed knitting and her time spent as a 4H leader. Belva was fond of canning, square dances and making fudge at Christmas.

Belva relished in taking vacations to Minnesota and Canada, she still holds the family fishing record when she caught the ten-pound Northern.

She worked as an embroiderer of Powers Manufacturing, she also worked in the offices of Rath Packing Company, American Mutual Life, Aetna Life, Members Mutual Oil and as office manager at Porky’s Red Carpet Country Club.

Belva was a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church and was active in Bible Study, teaching Sunday School and Prayer Chain.

She is survived by: her husband, Harvey White, Waterloo; a son, Gary (Linda) White of Davenport; a daughter, Sandra (John) Countryman of Land O Lakes, Florida; a grandchild, Whitney (Rob) Kavanaugh; and a sister, Betty Noss, Miami, Florida.

Preceded in death by: her parents; two brothers, George Jr. and Carl; two sisters, Catherine and Wilma.
