Biography--

Charlotte “Char” Leone Tannreuther, 88, of Orange Center in Waterloo, Iowa, passed away Friday morning, May 1, 2015 with her loving family beside her at Rosewood Estate, in Waterloo, Iowa.

Together with her twin brother, Char was born August 6, 1926 in Waukee, Iowa, to John and Leona (Coldin) Carter. After graduating from Waukee High in 1944, she attended Drake University for two years and McPherson College, McPherson, Kansas, for two years, receiving a degree in Business in 1948. Through her roommate at McPherson College, Jean Tannreuther, Char met the love of her life, Bob Tannreuther. The couple wed September 16, 1948, in Waukee, celebrating 63 years of marriage before Bob passed away in 2012. Together they raised three children, Ann, William (Bill) and Lynn. They farmed their Heritage Farm in Orange Center for many years.

Char was active in South Waterloo Church of the Brethren and the Women’s Fellowship group, besides Allen Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, 15-30 Club and TNT Club. She also enjoyed playing golf with friends and was a huge Iowa Hawkeye fan.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Ann; brother-in-law, Dick (Mary Kay) Klingaman of Waterloo; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Lynn Tannreuther; son, Bill Tannreuther; daughter-in-law, Liz Tannreuther; sister-in-law, Jean Klingaman; and brothers, Willard, Herb and Bernie Carter.
