DeElda J. Frodin

DeElda J. Frodin, 100, of West Union, Iowa, and formerly of Evansdale, Iowa, and Gray Hawk, Kentucky, died at the Good Samaritan Society, on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, of natural causes.

DeElda was born on November 14, 1914 in Dows, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Alma Olson Weber. She graduated from Dows High School in 1933.

DeElda married Franklin D. Dodd on January 1, 1935, in Popejoy, Iowa, and they later divorced. She married Arthur W. Frodin on November 25, 1951 in Evansdale. He died August 26, 1995.

She worked for Black's Coffee Shop 1946 1951; Rath 1951 1952, and was a nurses' aide at Schoitz Hospital from 1958 until retiring in 1981. After retirement, she worked for Secure Sitter.

DeElda was member of Evansdale Reformed Church and Gray Hawk Reformed Church in Gray Hawk, Kentucky.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty (Rev. Carroll) deForest of Gray Hawk, Kentucky; by three sisters: Berniece Peterson of Waterloo, LaVon Rastetter and Marie (Marv) Meyers both of Iowa Falls; by seven grandchildren: David (Katie) Baruth of West Union, Dale (Denise) Baruth of Estherville, Dan deForest of Richmond, KY, Nathan (Deb) deForest of Greenville, MI, Mark (Sarah) deForest of Rexford, NY, Angela (Tim) Houchin of Rutland, VT, and Sherry deForest of Gray Hawk, KY; by 15 great-grandchildren, Jason (Amber) Hondek; Alex (Ally), Caleb (Taylor), Sarah, and Rachel Baruth; Adam Reiter; Alexis and Lance (Nicole) Brolsma; Ava, Madison, Noah and McKenna deForest; and Audrey, Oliver and Nigel Houchin; and by a sister-in-law, Verla Weber of Dows.

She was preceded in death by her children: Linda Frodin, Marion Dodd, and Donna (Jack) Davis; and by her siblings: Elaine Schroeder, Earl Weber, and Seth Weber.
