Biography--

Rick D. Bass, 53, of Waterloo, formerly of Elk Run Heights, died at UnityPoint Health ‑ Allen Hospital on Thursday, May 28, 2015.

He was born in Cedar Falls on May 30, 1961, the son of Richard and Alda Abbas Bass. and attended Waterloo East High School. He was a heavy equipment operator for Story Construction and most recently EB Spencer Engineering.

Rick married Jill Giberson in September 1993 and they later divorced.

Survived by his daughter, Hannah Bass, of Waterloo; stepdaughter, Libbee Giberson of Cedar Rapids; his golden retriever, Buddy; parents, Richard and Alda Bass; and brothers, Dennis (Jackie) and Chuck (Stephanie) Bass, all of Elk Run Heights.

Preceded in death by: maternal and paternal grandparents.

Rick was a huge car buff--restoring cars, racing stock car, watching NASCAR and partial to Corvettes. He loved riding the Harley, hunting, fishing and being with family. Rick was an all-around good guy, very down to earth and will be greatly missed.

Celebration of Life gathering will take place on Tuesday, June 2nd, at Packer's Inn.
