Biography--

W. G. "Bill" Stevens, Jr., 91, of Waterloo died Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Friendship Village of natural causes.

He was born December 7, 1923 in Jersey City, New Jersey the son of William and Alfrieda Larsen Stevens. He married Jean Anna Muth August 7, 1947 at Grace United Methodist Church, Waterloo. She died June 27, 2013.

Bill graduated from Poughkeepsie High School in New York in 1942 and received a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from Colgate University in Hamilton, New York in 1947. He earned his Certified Life Underwriter designation in 1972.

Bill worked for the Rath Packing Co on the east coast for several years and then was a special sales agent for Prudential Insurance Company.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Bill was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ and Waterloo Downtown Kiwanis Club. He was Boy Scout Leader for his boys growing up.

Survivors include two sons, John Stevens and his wife Linda of Waterloo and Carter J. Stevens and his wife Michele of Denver, Iowa; and three granddaughters: Kirsten, Haley, and Sommer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and an infant daughter Maria.

Services:
Friday, June 26, 2015 at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 608 W 4th St. (corner of W 4th and South Streets) in Waterloo, Iowa.

Visitation:
Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Locke Funeral Home and for an hour before services at the church

Cemetery:
Memorial Park Cemetery, Waterloo, Iowa

Memorials:
First Congregational United Church of Christ or Boy Scouts of America
