Donald Dean Hayungs died peacefully of heart disease at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, on Nov, 25, 2014, at the age of 69.

Donald is survived by his wife of 50 years in June, Sandra Hayungs; two sons, Donald Todd Hayungs (Kimber) of Cedar Falls and Douglas Dean Hayungs (Tammy) of Corpus Christi, Texas; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; as well as brothers Robert (Karleda) of Clear Lake, Ronald (Shirley) of La Porte City and Lyle (Esther) Raymond of El Paso, Texas; his half brother, Mark, and one sister, Janet Greene of Cedar Falls.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Virginia Foutz Hayungs; parents Maurice and Pearle Raymond, and a brother, Harlan (Judy).

Donald was born on May 24, 1945, in Charles City, to Arthur and Virginia Hayungs and lived his early years in Greene, before moving to Waterloo and graduating from West High in 1964. He married Sandra Lee Payne, his church camp girlfriend, in 1965 and worked at John Deere for 34 years as a tool grinder.

A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 29, at 10 a.m. at Walnut Ridge Baptist Church, Waterloo, with burial in West View Cemetery, La Porte City, with a reception to follow at the church. Pastor Moore will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Donald's life.

Public visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway (note change in funeral home), and at the church for an hour before services on Saturday.

Memorials may be directed to the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit of University Hospital or the Salvation Army.
