Martha “Mattie” Katherine (Goodwin) Truax Carbiener – November 1, 1881 – March 24, 1950

MRS. FRED CARBIENER

Mrs. Fred Carbiener, 68 of 817 West Seventh Street, died Friday at St. Francis Hospital at 5:05 p.m. of cerebral hemorrhage.

The daughter of Michael and Rose Goodwin, she was born at Independence, Iowa, on November 1, 1881. She was christened Martha Katherine.

She lived in Waterloo since 1916.

Surviving are her husband, at home; five daughters, Mrs. G. A. (Grace) Smith, Marshalltown, Iowa; Mrs. Matt (Odessa) Bonefas, 118 South Barclay Street; Mrs. P. J. (LaVerne) Felkey, 1103 Lafayette Street; Mrs. Robert (Margaret) Van Biesen, Logan Avenue; Mrs. L. A. (Roberta) McGrath, Jesup, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. J. A. Oliver, Minneapolis, Minnesota and Mrs. Sarah Wilbert, also of Minneapolis; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be conducted Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Locke Funeral Home under the direction of Rev. MSGR. E. J. Daugherty, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The rosary will be said for Mrs. Carbiener at Sacred Heart Church, Sunday at 7:30. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Martha Goodwin married Orville Vern Truax in 1900.

She married Fred Carbiener on July 27, 1927 in Charles City, Floyd, Iowa.
