CEDAR FALLS - Marvin Dean Engel, 86, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, at Sartori Memorial Hospital.

He was born Feb. 12, 1928, in Traer, son of William and Dora Prehn Engel. He married Irene Dirkes on Nov. 19, 1977.

A U.S. Army veteran, Marvin ran the smoker at Rath Packing Co., retiring in 1984.

Survived by his wife; five sons, Jeff of Iowa, Greg (Jolene) of Washburn, Bill (Alicia) and Chris, both of Jesup, and Adam of Waterloo; a stepson, Robert Schneiders of South Carolina; two stepdaughters, Lisa Schneiders Hruska of Tripoli and Wendy Kubitz of New Albin; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Richard and Robert, both of Traer.

Preceded in death by his parents; and a stepson, Mike Hruska.

Burial at a later date. There will be no services. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, is assisting the family.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Marvin loved to fish, driving and going on day trips.
