LA PORTE CITY - Paul John Bader, 89, of La Porte City, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, due to injuries suffered in an automobile accident.

He was born May 22, 1925, in Benton County, son of John George and Anna Barbara Cherveny Bader. He married Iva Dell Noltensmeier on Nov. 3, 1946, at First Methodist Church, Waterloo.

Paul was a 1943 graduate of La Porte City High School and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a longtime farmer in Eagle Center and owned and operated Bader Realtors, Waterloo. He also served on the La Porte City School Board.

Survived by his wife; four sons, Boyd of Des Moines, Clark (Patty) of Sussex, Wis., Dodd (Mary) of Denver, Colo., and Blaine (Sherri) of Eldora; a daughter, Kyle (Jim) Jensson of La Porte City; 10 grandchildren, Kindra (Ryan) Gipple, Cayd (Cindy) Bader, Ryann (Charles) Henry, Teahl Bader, Michelle Bader, Emily Bader, David Jensson, Melana Jensson, Luke Bader and Caitlin Bader; six great-grandchildren, Camden Gipple, Maycn Gipple, Jonah Henry, Ashton, Nolan and Eve Bader; a sister, Beverly (Dick) Schuman of Decorah; and a brother, Don (Minnie) Bader of Reno, Nev.

Preceded in death by his parents; a daughter-in-law, Pamela (Curphy) Bader; an infant granddaughter; two great-grandsons, Brandon and Zachary Gipple; a brother, Curtis; and a sister, Belva Ackerman.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, La Porte City. La Porte City Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements

Memorials may be directed to the La Porte City Lion’s Club

Prior to entering the Navy Paul started his boxing career, which he enjoyed along with dancing, traveling and farming.
