WATERLOO - Samuel Ralph "Sam" Ralph Porter, 68, of Dallas, formerly of Waterloo, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, of cancer.

He was born April 9, 1946, in Cherokee, son of Ralph and Sylvia Porter.

Sam had a varied career in the automotive industry in Iowa, Wisconsin and Texas. Later in life he worked as an independent system operator for Encore Payment Systems.

Survived by his wife, Marilyn; a son, Sam (DeDe); two daughters, Meisha (Vance) Shofner and Kortney (James) Nelson; seven grandchildren; and a brother, David (Veronica).

Preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Buffy Simmons; and a sister, Karolyn Taylor.

Visitation and time of sharing: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, Dallas.

Memorials may be directed to charity of donor's choice.
