Joy Ann Melka, 83, of Marble Rock, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2015, at North Iowa Mercy Medical Center, in Mason City, Iowa. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Westside Cemetery in Marble Rock. Everyone will meet at the United Methodist Church to go in precession to the cemetery.

Joy Ann Christensen was born on July 24, 1931, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Mary Christensen. She attended public school in Cedar Falls. Joy worked in retail securing employment with a hardware store and other businesses in the Cedar Falls area.

She was united in marriage to Howard Frank Melka in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The couple raised their only daughter, Lori, and lived in a home Howard was building at the time.

Joy loved to go to flea markets and auctions. She enjoyed them so much that she and her daughter became venders for some of those events.

She is survived by her daughter Lori Bolton of Marble Rock; two grandchildren: Britney (Brad) Huffman of Cedar Falls and Mitchell (Kristy) Bolton of Waterloo; one great–granddaughter, Gracey Bolton; two nieces, two nephews, and a canine companion, Dutchess.

Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; her parents; sister, Lois Hummel.
