CEDAR FALLS - Beatrice Thompson Blackburn, 99, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014, at Western Home Communities Stanard Assisted Living Center.

She was born March 15, 1915, in Cedar Falls, daughter of Frank and Grace Phelps Thompson. She married Ross E. Blackburn in Cedar Falls. He preceded her in death in 1982.

Beatrice was a graduate of Cedar Falls High School and owned and operated East 11th Street Grocery Store in Cedar Falls for 15 years. She later worked at Viking Pump Co.in Cedar Falls for 10 years, retiring in 1972.

Survived by two sons, Scott of Cedar Falls and John (Carma) of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Donald and Harold Thompson; a sister, Isabel Anderson; a grandson, Jeremy Richardson; and a daughter-in-law, Sheryl Blackburn.

Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in Washington Chapel Cemetery, Janesville. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and also for an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
