WATERLOO - Margaret Ann Harman, 88, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014, at Lakeview Landing.

She was born March 1, 1926, daughter of Noel and Helen Morgan Montz. She married Lester O. Harman on June 25, 1947; he died Oct. 9, 1975.

Margaret graduated from Ottumwa Heights College and earned her teaching degree at the University of Northern Iowa. She taught first- and second-grade students for many years in Belle Plaine and then at Kittrell Elementary School in Waterloo. She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church.

Survived by a son, Reese (Vickie) of Marion; two grandsons, Heath (Jannell) Harman of Center Point and Aaron Harman of Marion; and six great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Gertrude Poole; and a brother, Robert Montz.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, preceded by an hour of visitation, with inurnment in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Margaret enjoyed gardening, cross stitchery, reading and a good bridge game. She loved to knit and made over 100 afghans in life that she gave away to others.
