LA PORTE CITY - Joanna Lynn Batchelder, 50, of Irving, Texas, formerly of La Porte City, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.

She was born Dec. 16, 1963, in Fort Meade, Maryland, daughter of Roger and Patty (Allison) Batchelder.

Joanna was a graduate of La Porte City High School, received her Associative of Arts degree from Kirkwood College in Cedar Rapids and her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 2013. She worked as a secretary for an Aviation Co. in Texas.

Survived by a son, Xavier Batchelder of Texas; her parents, Roger and Patty Batchelder of La Porte City; two sisters, Carolyn (Larry) Formanek of Knoxville, and Penny Clark of La Porte City; two brothers, Jim (Jackie) Batchelder of La Porte City and Matt (Lynn) Batchelder of Wallford; her maternal grandmother, Virginia Platt of Cedar Falls; and nine nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a brother, Mark Batchelder in infancy.

Private Family Graveside Services will be held at a later date with burial in the Orange Township Cemetery. La Porte City Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
