WATERLOO - Douglas "Ox" Baker, 80, of Danielson, Conn., formerly of Waterloo, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2014.

He was born April 19, 1934, son of Leslie and Ruth Crouse Baker. He was raised in Waterloo by his father and stepmother Bertha Krall Baker. He married Darlene Doyle and she preceded him in death in 1987. He married Peggy Ann Kawa and she preceded him in death in 2012.

Douglas spent two years in the Army and worked at Rath Packing for several years before wrestling.

Survived by a son, Garen "Gary" (Donna) of Humble, Texas; two grandchildren; a great grandchild; three brothers, Dale of Florida, Donald of Indianapolis and Darrel of Waterloo; and a sister, Marilyn Swanson of Dunkerton.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: were held in Connecticut and he was cremated.

Douglas lived a colorful life as a professional wrestler, author, actor and promoter. He began his wrestling career in 1966 in Kansas City and wrestled all over the globe. He held many titles in wrestling, including NWA Tag Team championship, NWA Heavyweight title and is in the Connecticut Wrestling Hall of Fame. He was in the movie "Escape from New York" in 1981 with Kurt Russell.
