WATERLOO - Evelyn M. Kerns, 87, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital.

She was born May 23, 1927, in Brainerd, Minn., daughter of Percival M. and Clara Wheeler Blake. She married Lynn A. Kerns on Aug. 14, 1948, in Oelwein; he died Nov. 15, 2001.

Evelyn was employed with John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 14 years, retiring in 1985.

Survived by two sons, Henry (Nancy) of Garwin and Wayne (Suzanne) of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Lynn Marie (David) Hanke of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Janice) Blake of Waterloo; and a sister, Mary (Ed) Reed of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by an infant son, Timothy; two sisters, Erma Blake and Bernadine Finical; and three brothers, Gerald, Tom and George Blake.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, with burial in Waterloo Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials, in lieu of flowers may be directed to the family or the church.
