WATERLOO - Shirley A. Cuvelier, 85, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

She was born Nov. 18, 1928, in Waterloo, daughter of Ernest L. and Floy Evans Griffith. She married Norlan J. Odem in 1949 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, and they later divorced. She married Duane C. Cuvelier on Sept. 12, 1975, in Lancaster, Mo.; he died Nov. 18, 2013.

Shirley was a waitress at Freeman’s Cafe, Waterloo, for 30 years, and was a hostess at the Red Fox Inn, Waverly, for three years, retiring in 1990.

Survived by three sons, Mike (Pat) of Keenesburg, Colo., Steve (Karen) of Shell Rock and Dean (Lynn) of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Linda (Scott) Turner, Kathy Cuvelier and Kimberly Schuler, all of Waterloo; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a brother, Leroy (Jan) Griffith of Broken Arrow, Okla.; and two sisters, Vivian Johnson and Barbara Kral, both of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Sonya Cuvelier; and three sisters, Francis Chase, Beverly Gabbard and Beatrice Fuller.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Grace Reformed Church, Waterloo, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
