CEDAR FALLS - Virginia Frances Riker, 89, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, Sept. 9, 2005, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center, Cedar Falls.

She was born Feb. 26, 1916, in La Junta, Colo., daughter of Jefferson Pierce and Frances Syvinta Lay Bell. She married Harvey Clarkson Riker July 6, 1934, in Cedar Falls. He preceded her in death March 7, 1995.

She was a graduate of Cedar Falls High School and was a homemaker and caregiver. She was a member of the former Calvary Baptist Church in Cedar Falls. Virginia also belonged to the church bible study, The Farther Lights Missionary Society and was involved in child evangelism through her church.

Survived by a son, Jerry (Jo) of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Judith Riker of Cedar Falls; a daughter-in-law, Trudy Riker of Portage, Mich.; four grandchildren, Michele (Dan) Semon, Christopher (Heidi) Riker, Jeffrey (Stella) Riker and Daniel (Tamela) Riker; two stepgrandchildren, Patrick (Gwyn) Poock and Bradley Poock; 10 great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Anna Bell; several nieces and nephews; and a special family friend, Susan Bolger.

Preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Charles, and a son in infancy; four brothers, Wayne, Elijah, Everett and George Bell; and a sister, Peggy Avery.

Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and for an hour before services Tuesday.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
