Mrs. Sarah E. Bass, 83, died at 12:50 p.m. yesterday at the home of her son, Guy A. Bass, 1012 West 11th Street, of a stroke following a three weeks' illness.

She was born April 13, 1865, in Fayette County, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Graham, and was married to John L. Bass, Jan. 1, 1889, in Fayette.

They moved to Waterloo shortly after their marriage.

Surviving are two sons, Lloyd C., 130 Cornell Avenue, and Guy A., 1012 West 11th Street; three sisters: Mrs. Julia Stepp and Mrs. Hattie Lewis, both of Fayette, and Mrs. Lilly Herbst, Marble Rock, Ia. Seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. Bass was a member of Graves Evangelical-United Brethren Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, one daughter, four sisters and two brothers.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The body is at Locke Funeral Home.
