WATERLOO - Don K. Petersen, 73, of 415 Belle St., died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, at Allen Hospital.

He was born Oct. 22, 1931, in Lyman, Neb., son of Wes and Opal Beebe Petersen. He married Dorothy Hansen Jan. 12, 1952, in Bellevue, Neb.

He graduated from the University of Nebraska in Omaha and taught science and coached at Bunger Junior High and East High School for 32 years.

Survived by his wife; a son, Chris (Deborah) of Decorah; two daughters, Lisa (Gene) Swanson of Waterloo and Lori (Jay) White of Elgin; six granddaughters, Joy (Kurt) Owens, Julie (Scott) Reger, Stephanie Swanson, and Jenny, Jodi and Jayme White; four great-grandchildren, Parker, Matthew, Emma and Addisyn; a half brother, Terry Petersen of Texas; and a half sister, Judy Barrow of Texas.

Memorial services: 2 p.m. Saturday at Walnut Ridge Baptist Church. His body has been cremated. Friends may call for an hour before services Saturday at the church. Locke Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial fund will be established for students.
