WATERLOO - Constance Evelyn Canakes, 54, of Clive, formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, Sept. 24, at Mercy Hospice, Johnston, of endometrial cancer.

She was born Jan. 20, 1951, in Waterloo, daughter of Earl and Sylvia Wolff, and grew up in Waterloo.

She was a homemaker and also worked part time at Key Financial.

Survived by her husband, Stephen G. Canakes of Clive; a son, Daniel (Stephanie) Canakes of Littleton, N.C.; two daughters, Stephanie (Rick) Conner of Urbandale and Crystal Canakes of Des Moines; two granddaughters, Gabriella of Urbandale and Kylie of Littleton, N.C.; her mother, Sylvia Kinney of West Des Moines; her father, Earl (Kathleen) Wolff of Waterloo; five brothers, Earl (Genna) Wolff of Independence, Daniel (Lynn) Wolff of St. Charles, James (Linda) Wolff and Lonnie Wolff, both of Waterloo and Lance (Pam) Wolff of Virginia; eight sisters, Sylvia (Richard) Marquette of Evansdale, Sandra Wolff of Des Moines, Wendy (John) Wolf of Waterloo, Darlene (Chip) Hansen and Cheryl (Pete) Versluis, both of Grand Rapids, Mich., Elaine (Zene) Malinski of St. George, Utah, Debbie (Gene) Coufal of Columbus, Neb., and Traci (Scott) Belle of Independence; a half brother, Dennis Karus of Wisconsin; a stepbrother, John (Carla) Nichols of Waterloo; a stepsister, Missy (Rick) Bartels of Waterloo; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Warren and Darrel Wolff; and her stepfather, James Kinney.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Federated Church, with burial in Resthaven Cemetery, both in Des Moines. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the church. Caldwell-Raddatz Funeral Home and Crematory, Des Moines, is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Federated Building Fund or Mercy Hospice of Johnston.

She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.
