WATERLOO - Velda Irene Sullivan, 96 , of Rogers, Minn., formerly of Waterloo, Manchester and Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., died Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at the Wellstead of Rogers.

She was born July 31, 1918, in Ryan, daughter of Herman August and Frieda Viola Voelschow Hartman. She married Merle Eugene Sullivan on Nov. 3, 1935, at Peace Lutheran Church, Ryan. He preceded her in death on Oct. 18, 1986.

Velda graduated from Manchester High School. She was the manager at the lunch counter at Adams Grocery in Waterloo for many years. She had been a member at First Lutheran Church in Waterloo and Nazareth Lutheran in Cedar Falls, serving on many women’s groups.

Survived by a son, Larry (Lois) Sullivan of Maple Grove, Minn.; a daughter, Glenda (Gene) Henderson of Miami Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren, Mark (Lynn) Sullivan, Amy Norberg, Matthew (Kristin) Sullivan and Chris (Amy) Collis; eight great-grandchildren; and two sister-in-laws, Ardith Hartman of Waverly and Faye Wright of Manchester.

Preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Virgil, Donald and Delbert Hartman; and two sister-in-laws, Jean Hartman and Joanne Hartman Ombruni.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, Waterloo, with burial in Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery, Ryan. Visitation for an hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial fund for perpetual care of Peace Lutheran Cemetery.
