WATERLOO - Bernard L. Webber, 88, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born Nov. 30, 1925, in Waterloo, son of Howard and Kathleen Hall Webber. He married Shirlee Hopper on July 9, 1949, in Nashua. She died June 21, 1999.

Bernie was an inspector with the city of Waterloo Engineering Department for 40 years, retiring in 1987. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy.

Survived by two sons, Joe of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Mike (Patti) of Ankeny; three daughters, Nancy (Dennis) Johnson of Spring, Texas, Pat (Tim) McElligott of Cedar Falls and Mary (Kevin) McBride of Waterloo; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley White of Cedar Falls; and a special companion, Karen Kehoe of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a son, John; a brother, Donny; and a half sister, Isabelle Moeller.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with entombment in Mount Olivet Mausoleum, where full military rites will be conducted by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19, Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 and the U. S. Navy Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p. m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 5 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
