EVANSDALE - Marilyn Louise Parmer, 94, of Evansdale, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, of natural causes.

She was born Aug. 12, 1920 in Kansas City, Mo., daughter of Clarence and Beatrice Johnson Gunderson. She married Loren Parmer on Oct. 18, 1947, and they later divorced.

Marilyn was a 1939 graduate of Waterloo East High School. She was a homemaker, worked at A&W in Evansdale and was a volunteer for many years at the Salvation Army, MHI, Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 and Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

Survived by two sons, Dana Parmer of California and Darrell (Regina) Parmer of Elk Run Heights; three daughters, Sharon (Dave) Cary and Marlene Hanson, both of Evansdale, and Patricia Kidrowski of Waterloo; 10 grandchildren, Roger (Kelly) Cary, Amy (Chad) Deutsch, Richard (Katie) Cary, Jeremy (Sara) Hanson, Joey Hanson, Amanda O’Connell, Nicki O’Connell, Michael Parmer, Catherine (Sam) Yim and Joseph Parmer; 18 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

Preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Lorraine Louise Parmer; a stepson, Jerry Parmer; a grandson, Chad O’Connell; six brothers, James, Joseph, Robert Sr., Leon and Clarence Gunderson and Raymond Spiker; and a sister, Geraldine Rhodes.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Friday at Garden View Chapel, preceded by an hour of visitation, with entombment in Garden of Memories mausoleum, both in Waterloo.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
