WATERLOO - Thelma A. Herzberg, 78, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, at Covenant Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 22, 1936, in Morrowville, Kan., daughter of Claude and Violet Ring Richards. She married Donald P. Herzberg on April 6, 1953, in Clarinda; he died May 14, 1978.

Survived by four sons, Donald and Daniel, both of Evansdale, Douglas (Vicki) of Oklahoma and Derrick of Maryland; two daughters, Debra (Dave Santos Sr.) Ruehrmund of Virginia and Danita (Greg) Walker of Maryland; 22 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Lonnie (Barb) Richards of Waterloo; and a son-in-law, Douglas Mangrich of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Allen Ray; a daughter, Denise Mangrich; two brothers, Laverne and Rueben Richards; and a sister, Patsy Snodgrass.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Garden View Chapel Funeral Home, where visitation begins at 9 a.m., with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Thelma was an avid bowler for many years and enjoyed playing Yatzi and cards. She loved digging into genealogy and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
