CEDAR FALLS - John W. Ewing, 63, of Barron, Wis., formerly of Cedar Falls, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005, at the Barron Care Center surrounded by his family, of cancer.

John was born on Jan. 15, 1942, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Fredrick and Lucille (Brockson) Ewing. Following school, John was united in marriage to I. Joy McManus on Nov. 1, 1958, in Barron. The couple made their home in Cedar Falls, where they raised their family. They recently celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary.

John worked 20 years at John Deere Tractor Works, Waterloo, where he retired.

John was extremely active in community activities for many years including; UAW Local 838, Red Cross and church. He was a member of Faith Wesleyan Church while living in Cedar Falls. John enjoyed his family and friends, grandchildren, hunting, fishing, cooking, and traveling with his wife. He knew Jesus; he loved church and working in the church. John was known as a giving person, and one who would walk the extra mile.

He is survived by his wife and five children and their spouses; Joy and Tim Ohrt of Peck, Kan., Steve and Cindy Ewing of Dahlonega, Ga., Tammy Renfro of Dike, Vance and Laurie Ewing of Lebanon, Mo., and Kandie and Brad Vaughn of Reinbeck; nine grandchildren, two stepgrandsons and one great-grandson; his brother; four sisters; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a stepgranddaughter.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Foursquare Church, with burial following at Wayside Cemetery, both in Barron.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Rausch-Rockman Funeral Chapel, 19 South Third Street, Barron, Wis., 54812. Phone (715) 537-3377. Visitation also for an hour before the services Wednesday at the church.
