WATERLOO - Byron J. Mullaney, 83, of Janesville, Wis., formerly of Waterloo, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, at Premier Care Center, Beloit, Wis., from complications of a stroke.

He was born Jan. 7, 1931, in Cresco, son of Patrick and Martha Gossman Mullaney. He married Mary McKendrey in Shullsburg, Wis., on May 7, 1960, and they later divorced.

Byron graduated from Ridgeway High School in 1949; served in the U.S. Air Force; attended Loras College and Notre Dame University, and received a bachelor’s degree from Loras College in 1959. He was employed by John Deere as an accountant in their sales branches in Calgary, Regina, Winnipeg, and Hamilton, Canada, for many years. He operated a Servicemaster franchise in Canada and then in Michigan. He also spent some years working as an independent contractor using a special method of cleaning boats and ships. He finished his working years as a resident manager of senior apartment complexes in Wisconsin. He was a member of St. John Vianney Parish, Janesville, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survived by two daughters, Anne Mullaney of San Francisco and Tara Mullaney of Nashville, Tenn; three sons, Sean of Las Vegas, Todd (Jennifer) of Metamora, Mich., and Michael (Jayme) of Boise, Idaho; seven grandchildren, Austin, Dylan, Paige, Colin, Shay, Jack and Cooper; a brother, John (Pat) of Surprise, Ariz., and a sister, Patricia Harper of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Connie (Tom) Thein.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at St. John Vianney, Janesville, with inurnment in Shullsburg at a later date.
