WATERLOO - Otha William "Bill" Cook, 60, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at Allen Hospital.

He was born July 21, 1947, in Palm Beach, Fla., son of Otha W. and Irene A. Norris Cook. He married Sharon K. Moe on July 4, 1969, in Las Vegas.

Mr. Cook graduated from Waterloo West High School, then served as a medical corpsman in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. After serving in the military, he received his bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls. He worked in the human services field and was presently co-owner of Cedar Valley Community Support Services, which he and his partner started in June 1994.

Survived by his wife; a son, William C. (Michelle) of Portland, Ore.; a daughter, Kellie I. Cook of Waterloo; a stepgranddaughter, Alexiss Grant; two sisters, Patsy (Milo) Harper of Billings, Mont., and Lana Glazebrook of Des Moines; two nephews; and two nieces.

Preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball. Military rites will be conducted by Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1623. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today and an hour before services Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the family or Cedar Valley Club.
