David A. Tiemann died Monday morning, Jan. 15, 2007, at Allen Hospital, from complications of a heart attack.

David Arthur Tiemann was born to Darwin and Ruth Steeves Tiemann on April 5, 1945, in Inglewood, Calif., at the Rose Maternity Hospital.

Dave graduated from Sherman Burroughs High School in Ridgecrest, Calif., in 1963. He attended Bakersfield College in Bakersfield, Calif., the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, Calif., and he graduated from the Electronic Computer Programming Institute in Sacramento, Calif.

On March 13, 1964, he married Ruth Ann Parrish in China Lake, Calif. They were later divorced. On May 23, 2003, he married Gretchen E. Suiter in Waterloo.

Dave worked as a draftsman at Gordon M. Genge Corporation in Ridgecrest, Calif., and as a Photo Science Technician at the Naval Weapons Center in China Lake. He worked as a locksmith at Fairfield Safe and Lock in Fairfield, Calif., Drive-in Lock in Pico Rivera, Calif., and later owned and operated Manchester Lock and Supply, Inc., in Inglewood, Calif. He also worked as a brick and stone mason at RBC Masonry in Torrance, Calif. Dave worked for TASCO Construction as a lead man during the construction of IBP in Waterloo. He then worked as a maintenance supervisor at IBP and then as maintenance superintendent and maintenance training supervisor at KPR Processed Foods in Waterloo. He also worked at Eagle Ottawa Tannery as a maintenance supervisor.

Survived by his wife, Gretchen; a son, David James Tiemann of Antioch, Calif.; a daughter, Celli Tiemann-Parsons (Pam Parsons) of Sunnyvale, Calif.; two sisters, Kathy Adelman of Davis, Calif., and Carolyn Singer of Mendicino, Calif.; two brothers, Warren Smith of Oxnard, Calif., and Dennis Smith of Fairfield, Calif.; two grandsons, Braeden Tiemann and Phenwyk Parsons; a granddaughter, Kimberly Tiemann; an aunt, Shirley Sue Jones of San Lorenzo, Calif.; and his godson, Jared Russell Rigdon (Allison Murphy) of Waterloo.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Dale Tiemann.

It was Dave's wish that memorials be made to the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center (GBPAC) in lieu of flowers.

Celebration of Life service will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Mama Nick's Pizzeria. Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball in charge of arrangements.
