CEDAR FALLS - Leo McGlaun, 99, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, at Windhaven Assisted Living.

He was born Oct. 12, 1914, in Leona, Texas, son of Daniel and Maude McGlaun. Leo married Joann M. Moos on Dec. 14, 1945, in Duluth, Minn.

Mr. McGlaun served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He had worked for Autolite and also John Deere, retiring in 1980 after 21 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Cedar Falls, lifetime member of Guy W. Iverson AMVETS Post 49 and VFW and UAW Local 838.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Wendy (Dan) Hedges of Fairbank; two sons, Jon (Gina) of Derby, Kan., and Todd (Laura) of McKinney, Texas; seven grandchildren, Justin (Kate), Nate, Sam, Max, Matt and Katy McGlaun, and Dr. Tami (Mike) Eggleston; and a great-grandson, Gavin McGlaun.

Preceded in death by his parents; and 11 siblings.

Services: 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 1302 W. 11th St., with burial in Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until services Tuesday at the church. Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel in Waterloo is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Allen Hospice, 1825 Logan Ave., Waterloo 50703 or charity of the donor’s choice.

Leo was an avid Packer fan, enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, woodworking and had a passion for reading.
