MRS. T. P. HAMER DIES AT ORANGE TOWNSHIP HOME

Resident Since 1903; Leaves Nine Children: Funeral Friday Afternoon

Mrs. Eliza Blough Hamer, 81, widow of the late Thomas Hamer, died at her home in Orange Center, Black Hawk County, at 10:20 p. m, Tuesday, of pneumonia. She was taken ill Friday evening.

Eliza Blough, daughter of John and Jane Blough, was born Jan. 30, 1856, at Hooversville, Pa. She was married there to Thomas P. Hamer March 26, 1878, and they resided on the Hoover homestead near that town.

In 1903 they came to Black Hawk County, Iowa, locating on a farm in Orange Township. They left the farm in 1914, moving to Orange Center. Mr. and Mrs. Hamer observed their golden wedding anniversary March 16, 1928. Mr. Hamer died Dec. 14, 1931. Mrs. Hamer was a member of the Church of the Brethren at Orange Center.

Surviving are four sons, O. W. Hamer, 1311 Randolph Street. Waterloo; O. L. Hamer and C. J. Hamer, Orange Township, and O. Stuart Hamer, North Manchester, Ind.; five daughters, Mrs. Carrie Knopp, Orange Township; Mrs. Jennie Glessner, Sheldon, Ia.; Mrs. Estella Brower, South English, Ia.; Mrs. Martha Wingerd, Elkhart, Ia., and Miss Anna Hamer, Storm Lake, Ia.; one brother, P. J. Blough, Orange Center; 26 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Petersen Bros. chapel, Waterloo, and 2 p.m. at the Church of the Brethren, Orange Center, by Rev. W. H. Yoder, pastor. Burial will be in the Orange Township Cemetery.
