WATERLOO - Carol Elaine Schirm, 75, of Waterloo, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

She was born Feb. 7, 1939, in Cedar Falls, daughter of Ralph and Elner Foote Sassaman. She married Richard O. Schirm on Jan. 2, 1965, in Cedar Falls; he died April 16, 2010.

Carol attended Gates Business College and was a self-employed day care provider for 39 years.

Survived by two sons, Brian of Waterloo and Brent (Kristin) of Norwalk; a daughter, Brenda (Brian) Bonner of La Porte City; six grandchildren, Ali Bonner, Andrew Schirm, Heather Schirm, Maddie Bonner, Justin Schirm and Abby Bonner; her mother of Cedar Falls; a brother, Jim (Julie) Sassaman of Cedar Falls; and three sisters, Karen (LuRay) Meyer of Wellsburg, Helen (Herbert) Bosley of Cedar Falls and Elizabeth (Daniel) Gardner of Rowley.

Preceded in death by her father.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and an hour before services Thursday at the funeral chapel.

Memorials may be directed to Faith Lutheran Church in Waterloo or the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.
