WATERLOO - Elsa Luceil Cunningham, 95, of Algona, formerly of Waterloo, died Sept. 7, 2014, at Kossuth Regional Health Center, Algona.

She was born Feb. 6, 1919, in Algona, daughter of Rea and Hazel Krantz Hutchison. She married Ray Cunningham on Feb. 6, 1941, in Waterloo; he died in 2002.

Elsa graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1935, attended Gates Business College, Waterloo, for two years, and had worked as a legal secretary in Waterloo. She and her husband farmed near Waterloo for several years, and then farmed north of Sexton until 1979. She was a member of Doan United Methodist Church until transferring to First United Methodist Church, Algona. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, Order of the Eastern Star Algona Chapter 68, Iowa Federated Women’s Club and the Algona Garden Club.

Survived by a son, George (Brigitte) of Budingen, Germany; three daughters, Janet (Keith) Brandt of Algona, Cheryl (Darrel) Harms and Rachelle (Randy) Fratzke, both of Arnolds Park; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert Hutchison; four sisters, Eveline Spencer, Betty McCright, Kathryn Peterson and Mary Vogt Hoerst; and a great-grandson, Caden Harms.

Services: were Sept. 11 at First United Methodist church, with burial in East Lawn Cemetery, both in Algona. Oakcrest Funeral Service, Algona, was in charge of arrangements.

Elsa enjoyed reading, playing cards/games and traveling.
