EVANSDALE - Larry D. Becker, 78, of Evansdale, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo.

He was born May 23, 1936, in Jesup, son of Adrian and Hilda Pint Becker. He married Mary McNally on June 24, 1957, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Evansdale.

Larry graduated from Orange Township High School in 1954. He was employed at Rath Packing Co. for 30 years and was the building inspector in Evansdale for 20 years. He also was a property manager in Evansdale.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Randy (Mary Dawn) of Waterloo and Craig of Evansdale; two daughters, Holly (Scott) Kelly of Anamosa and Trudy (John) Breitbach of Gilbertville; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four brothers, Dan (Pat) of Elk Run Heights, Bob (Faye) of Minnesota, Tom (Nancy) of Hudson and David (Kathy) of Waterloo; and three sisters, Vernita (Maurice) Schmitz of Kansas City, Mo., and Norma (Bill) Bertch and Doris (Loren) Evers, both of Nebraska.

Preceded in death by his parents; and two children, Martin and Kristin Becker.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. vigil service, and an hour before services Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials, in lieu of flowers may be directed to Queen of Peace Catholic Church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
