CEDAR FALLS - Betty Heisler-Neil, 68, of Rock Island, Ill., formerly of Cedar Falls, died June 3, 2006, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

She was born Nov. 30, 1937, in rural Black Hawk County, daughter of Harry and Agnes Heisler. She married Max Franck, and they were later divorced. She then married Dale Neil on May 31, 2002, in Moline, Ill.

She graduated from Northern University High School and received bachelor's and master's degrees in communications from the University of Northern Iowa. She began her teaching career in Waterloo Community Schools and retired from teaching at Hawkeye Community College. When she married and moved to Rock Island she worked as an office manager for Friends of WATS (West Africa Theological Seminary in Nigeria.) She was a member of Grace Bible Fellowship and Heritage Wesleyan Church, as well as Overeaters Anonymous.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Dr. Maxine (Dr. Jeff) Palmer of Plainfield, Ill., Dr. Barb (Dr. Tom) Fabricius of Fon du Lac, Wis., and Susan Franck of Lincoln, Neb.; two stepdaughters, Esther Neil of Millan, Ill., and Johanna Neil of Rock Island; five granddaughters, Devon, Claire, Katie, Tori and Phaedra; two brothers, Don Heisler of Colfax and Larry (Michelle) Heisler of Des Moines; two sisters, Mary Jane (Bob) Shafer of Waterloo and Shirley Bassett of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial services: June 24 at Grace Bible Fellowship, Rock Island. Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Moline, is in charge of arrangements.
