WATERLOO - Frances Sophia Diercks, 97, of Lakeview Landing at Friendship Village, died there Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014.

She was born July 22, 1917, in rural Red Wing, Minn., daughter of John and Dora Langhans Kohn. On Oct. 21, 1942, she married LeRoy Diercks at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Red Wing; he died Nov. 28, 1992.

Frances graduated from Red Wing High School in 1934. She worked at the Red Wing shoe factory, and then relocated to Faribault, Minn., where she worked at J.C. Penney Co.

Survived by a daughter, Carol Mitchell of Waterloo; a son, Keith of Faribault; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Vernon Kohn of Red Wing; and a sister; Marge (Emmery) Liebeg of Red Wing.

Preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Marvin and Annard Kohn.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Friday at Friendship Village Chapel, with private inurnment at a later date. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Arc of Southwestern Minnesota and Friendship Village in Waterloo.
