Funeral arrangements for Mrs. Ray Tiller, 80, of 301 Oak St., who died at St. Francis Hospital Thursday at 9:45 p.m. of a lingering illness, are pending at Locke Funeral Home where friends may call after 7 p.m.

Tiller, who was Waterloo fire chief for 47 years, from 1919-1962, when he died. Ray Tiller Park, adjacent to Van Eaton School, is named for him and he was named to the Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame earlier this year.

Mrs. Ray Tiller, 80, of 301 Oak Ave., died at St. Francis Hospital Thursday evening
about 9:45 p.m. after a lingering illness.

She was born in Hanover, Kan., May 10, 1891, daughter of James E. Elizabeth Harrell Fannan. She was married to Tiller Sept. 11, 1924, in Waterloo. He was chief of the Waterloo fire department from 1919 to 1962 when he died.

Mrs. Tiller was a graduate of the old Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in 1922. She was a nurse for many years.

She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, and the WSCS of St.
Paul's, and a past president of the Waterloo Firemen's Auxiliary.

Mrs. Tiller is survived by one brother, W. H. Fannan of 205 Linwood Ave., and three nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Locke Funeral Home, the Rev. John DeLong, assistant pastor of Grave United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Friends who wish may give memorials to the St. Paul's United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.
