WASHBURN — Merel Donald Rahe Jr., 71, of Washburn, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at Covenant Medical Center of cancer.

He was born April 19,1932, in Oelwein, son of Merel Donald Sr. and Syvellia Lau Rahe. He married Eva Williams in September 1953; they were later divorced. He married Arlene R. Fike May 7 1961, in Waterloo.

Mr. Rahe was employed by John Deere for 32 years, retiring Aug. 31,1987.

Survived by his wife; two sons, William (Nancy) of Mount Vernon and M. Donald III of Oelwein; Mere! Rahe Jr.; three daughters, Debra (Gene) Naber of Spirit Lake
Sheryl (David) Rossow of Maple Valley, Wash., and Pamela (Charles) Pontenberg of WatkinsviUe, Ga.; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, Larry of Postville and K. C. of Alamogordo, N. M.; and three sisters: Betty (Dan) Volker of Sumner, Delores Trusty of Eldora and Patricia (John) Dibble of Yuma Colo.

Preceded in death by a granddaughter.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m today and for an hour before services Monday at the funeral home.
