Marjorie Phyllis Edsill, 78, of La Porte City, died June 29, 2004, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.

She was born October 2, 1925, in La Porte City, daughter of Luvern Allen and Ida Ora Rauch Clark. Marjorie married James C. Edsill February 18, 1943, in Lancaster, Missouri. He died May 19, 2002.

Marjorie was a member of the Geneseo High School Class of 1942. Following her marriage, she worked at odd jobs in whatever town her husband was stationed, just to be with him. After returning to La Porte City, she and her husband, in partnership with Roy Sweet, owned and operated La Porte City Furniture.

Survivors include a son, Ron(Marilyn) Edsill of Waterloo; a daughter, Kathy (Bill) Charles of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Ryan (Barbara) Edsill, Melissa Edsill, and Marcus Charles, all of Waterloo, and Michael Charles of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and a special friend and caregiver, Roy Sweet of La Porte City.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Clark.

Services were held July 2, 2004, at St. Paul United Methodist Church with burial in West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City.
